Join The Community: Social and Emotional learning tools, Workshops and Camps.

OUR MISSION:

To create a shared language of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) for teachers, students and professionals.

Know the Difference. Make a Difference. JOIN THE COMMUNITY.

“I have dedicated my career to finding creative ways to solve persistent problems in education, such as bullying, lack of self worth and a myriad of social and emotional issues that plague our youth of today.” - Founder, Rob Gallo

Rob Gallo founded Join the Community as a result of decades of practice, research and observation of learning environments. These problems have been articulated time and again by the parents, students and teachers we come across every day. The educational environment lacks a focused, methodical approach to character development, conflict resolution and community building. This is by no means a function of apathy. Teachers tell us that they have the will but not the tools. Developing social and emotional literacy is on the agenda of academics, lawmakers and practitioners alike. Inside this website you will find a detailed discussion of our approach to Social and Emotional Learning. We developed our Community Core lesson plans in order to teach social and emotional literacy and unlock the thriving community that is within and around us.

Gray Area: Social Emotional Learning Workshops

Re-imagine "supervisory duty" as an opportunity for Social & Emotional Literacy development.

Unlike most character education programs, Join The Community offers professional development that trains educators and supervisors to create and maintain a positive school and office culture. We specifically focus on the “Gray Areas” - those places in your school or office where the most challenging social issues are likely to develop.

With over 20 years of experience creating positive social and emotional climate in camps, schools and the office, Rob Gallo and his Community Core Team offer a unique, experiential workshop that can help you view your environment’s biggest behavior challenges through a new lens and get to the heart of the social-emotional needs of your students and staff.

Driftwood Camps: Social Emotional Learning for girls, high adventure, horses and leadership.

“Courage is the power to let go of the familiar.”
At Driftwood, the success of the day is in the hands of the campers.  A typical day may include riding, barn chores, random act of kindness, sports, arts, improvisation, hiking, roping & of course amazing food!  Our small size is our greatest asset.  It allows us to create a self-sustaining community where the focus is on creativity, responsibility, respect and fun.
