It’s an art to use conversation to plan, share, and solve problems. We need to teach our students how to properly use guidelines and structures to facilitate discussions that are productive and uphold emotional safety.

How? Have a mini debate. Students will practice Engaging in Open Discussions with low-stakes, humorous content. Give them examples of possible responses/guidelines.

  • “I hear you… and I also think…”

  • “Great point.”

  • “Well, what about…?”
